Anyone know how "new" Blazer fillers are put on the tanks?

I bought a new Blazer tank, and I want to replace the filler with my stock one, since it will help with the routing of the filler hose.
The old filler tube was soldered and bolted on, I removed it without any trouble. I took the new one to the radiator shop so they could remove the new filler and install this old one. They couldn't get the new one off. I brought it home and tried and I can't get it off.
Are these not soldered on anymore? It almost looks like a copper color underneath, does that mean it's brazed?
Is there any way to get this off, or should I just forget about it?
