New here from Tennessee
Wow, I'm impressed!
This is a well established forum with a LOT of members. I can't believe I hadn't found it sooner. So I'm just now saying hello to everyone and to say that I'm glad to be here. I have a 1971 ¾ton in that ochre yellow color with a white top. I love that color. It has a green interior. Wow, talk about retro. I've had this truck for 10 years and I'm the 2nd (and last) owner. It's time to restore this old girl to her original glory but like so many other folks, my funds are very tight and always spoken for in advance. But maybe........ At least I've been able to squeeze out the coins for a tranny rebuild with a B&M shift kit and a total engine rebuild complete with 10½:1 flattops, Edelbrock Performer carb on an Edelbrock Performer manifold. Also, there is a Mallory breakerless ignition under there so I no longer have to carry that little flexy tool for adjusting the points. Of course, it being a ¾ ton, it has the Dana 80 rear with a 410:1 ratio. Jeez, I need an overdrive on the freeway. The truck has the original factory air but the compressor has long ago seized up. But I still have all the peices and I'll convert it all to that new R-134 coolant when I get it put together. (thank god for LMC Truck) The dash has never been cut up for any kind of stereo but the old girl is pretty ratty. So I've got some work cut out for me. So, does anyone know where in Tennessee, North Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi or Southern Kentucky where I can get this girl media blasted? Every since I became a Chip Foose Overhaulin' addict, it seems to be the way to start the resto. |
