NTS: truck is not tank, weighs a tank
Ok, so my friend with a 67 mustang is stuck on the side of my (loose gravel) road from sliding off into the ditch accidently
I go to turn around to hook up to him, and i proceed to get stuck perpendicular to the road taking up most of the width of it. Even with throttle management, because of the position my truck was sitting in (nose in the ditch, rear axle on the loose stuff), it was no time at all before i was bottomed out on the running boards and I had 4" deep ruts under all 4 rear tires. so my friend that was with me with a ram 1500 hooks on to my trailer hitch to try and pull me sideways. He gets not even a few inches after the rope gets tight before he's stuck spinning his tires in the loose stuff...ain't either of us got detroit's or anything. So the origional person's mom arrives in a 2500 silverado and tries to pull my back end around, and i'm pulsating the throttle in reverse while she's pulling me, and there's gravel going everywhere (including in the cab) and there's nothing but gravel in my rear rim except gravel up to above the hub cap (you couldn't see any of the hubcap). I look down on one of the pulses, and the tach flies to 4,000 RPM. About then, her truck starts digging down into a rut. So we still have a mustang stuck in the ditch, and my truck stuck nearly perpendicular to the road with 18" of gravel packed up against the left rear tire. about 45 minutes later, both of us are finally extracted, with the road left a royal mess. just because my truck weighs a tank and has the structural strength of a tank, does not mean it pulls like a tank in all conditions. So now i'm leaking some fluid or another (either PS or trans, more likely P/S). Oh, and i managed to catch a piece of 2x4 almost to the point of fire from having it under my right rear tires trying to lift them up...I pulled it out and blew on it and it turned to an orange glow.... |
