Fuel pump replacement - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK. I searched and couldn't find a good answer to my first ignorant question.

FWIW I have primarily played with motorcycles for the last 15 or so years. These have gravity fed fuel systems.

I have my 68 with a 307 and Rochester 2G carb. I wanted to start with a clean slate so ordered new fuel tank, sending unit and pump. All lines have been taken off and cleaned out.

QUESTION.

Do I have to prime the fuel pump or should it take off on it's own?

I will now duck and cover with my new dunce cap firmly seated on my head.
