Ball joint advice

I have a 1990 Suburban 4x4 with the GM 10 bolt in it. The ball joint on the passenger side is bad. Took a look at it today and reviewed a haynes manual, but before I rip it all apart, I wanted advice from someone who has done it.

Looks like I need to remove the axle to get to get to the lower nut and to remove the spindle. Hubs are easy enough, but how hard is removing the spindle?

Do I need to remove the axle? If so, does it just slide out or are there c-clips?

Once the axle is out it seems pretty straight foward, I already have a ball joint press.

Any other advice? What about the adjuster sleeve? Should I replace or leave in place? How do I adjust it?
