Replacement vs. Find&Fix

QUESTION FOR THOSE WHO KNOW--

Is it best to search the world looking for short fleet bed / parts and have them repaired or spend the extra buck and buy replacement parts...When it comes to end result will I be spending more to buy and fix the bed (I have never done body work...if enough people say "do it yourself..its not hard"..I might try it myself, but I dont have metal working tools) or spend $900 bucks ready to go...Those who have a total replacement bed are you happy? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
