Rip - 305
Yes, the 305 finally kicked the bucket. The ignition module and timing chain failed at the same time. I replaced the timing chain and a few other parts, but something is not right. Damage to either the valves or cam is probable. I've given up saving the engine. So, for you long time board members, yes the 383 is in the works.
Timing chain failure pictures. The stock nylon timing gears were all over the place. Teeth from the old chain are just gone. The 305 did it's last 1/4 WOT run on my way home from work a few weeks ago. So the 16 sec killa is done. Graduate school is taking up all of my time. I graduate in Dec 07. The install of the 383 is going to take some time. I just need plan it out. The longest wait is for the AFR heads. It takes several weeks to receive them. For now, I plan to cleanup the garage and make room for the truck. It will be parked inside for a long while. Paint and other preparations will be done before the install. Remember the 81-82 bumper I needed? It will be installed to make room for the dual intake Ram Air Box! As I work on the project, I'll take pictures and add them to my photo albums. In time, I'll redo the web page. So stay tuned...... |
