Poll Time! Who gives the Best deal and Has Best Parts!?

I’ve notice something in various discussions about parts, particularly sheet metal parts. That is the quality and fit of the parts from the suppliers. From what I can tell is that there are only two or three places that make sheet metal for or trucks and the suppliers get their parts from one or more of these manufactures. There have also been some comments that parts don’t fix right and the metal is cheap.

It would be nice to have someone who is in the know write up a little something about the basics of basics regarding sheet metal parts. I know for example in the house building world nothing fits together every single time. That’s why God gave man hammers, especially big hammers.

It would also be great if someone could explain why a zinc dipped part is better or not better that just a primed part or the gauges of sheet metal. Maybe a talk about GM repo parts versus any other part, is it just a licensing thing with GM or is there a difference???

I don’t mean to be out of line here and I’m not casting dispersion on any supplier ….. I’ve always gotten great help and a fair price from the folks that I have used …..especailly my fellow board members very very helpful.

I think there are a lot of folks who, like me, need the basics of basics when it comes to sheet metal……

BTW I’m hopefully getting my first welder this month. (it might be ripped off but that’s another posting) So truth be told I am being a little selfish in my interest.
