My new to me $600 1979 Chevy C20 Pickup
Well I went and bought another 3/4 ton pickup, almost identical to my 1978 C20 L6-292 2wd, but this one has a V8-350. I bought this from the same place, Fort Worth School District for $600 on Monday. It needs work on the body, but mechanically it is sound. Drove it home from the city yard and rides great, stays straight, runs well and transmission shifts fine. It has no A/C, but does have a radio (does not work). Outside it needs body work, has dents that need to be fixed, rear bumper that is dented and of course repainted. Inside it needs a new seat cover, door panels need painting, glove box is broken, cabin repainted as well. Should take me 3-6 months to restore it as it did my 1978. I plan to sell my other 1978 Chevy C20 L6-292, but have to transfer some exterior options.
Chassis: 2 Wheel Drive Body: Style Pickup Series: 3/4-Ton Engine: V8 350 4 bbl. Already fixed the dent on the door, just pushed it back out. There is my 1978 C20 L6-292 in the background. The dent in the back of the box will be a challenge to fix. The bumper is 1/4 steel at least, so I do not know if that can be fixed. Here is the V8 350 4bbl, was told it was replaced with a rebuild about 7 years ago. Work will start on this truck after I sell my current one, then I will transfer insurance and get it registered. Plus give me money to fix it up and not break the bank.
