I never broke anything going off road yet. One time though, a buddy of mine was following me. I had my 89 toyota, independent front suspension, he had his bronco II with the TTB. We were going down a trail that was covered in water, I heard a rock smack something on his truck and after we got through the water we checked it out. His front pumpkin got hit right in the middle and cracked it almost in half. He was done for the day, but was able to drive out from where we were at in 2wd. He had to replace the axle.

There are some advantages to IFS.
