New balancer is in (LONG)
I got my new 8 inch balancer in but not without a helluva fight. This whole thing started this afternoon when I headed out to the 68 to start this whole process. Well I got out the old one but in the process stripped out my 8 $ remover. So thats strike 1 that will come back to haunt me here shortly.
I go to install the new 8 balancer and I am taking my time and it starts getting difficult and its just about lined up with the timing mark and all of a sudden it gets really really easy to turn the nut. You guessed it that bolt that screwed into the crank snapped like a twig. I didn't even hear it snap. ![]() So Im taking a look at it and naturally it snapped off uneven so off I go to the hardware store for a easy out. Fight the traffic to come back and take the family out for some ice cream that really hit the spot. Gotta love cold stone. ![]() Get back to the house and after I get the kids in bed etc I get started. That was a 9 pm. I get my easy out ready to go and I remove the pulleys, fan, & fan shroud. Here is where it all turns around. I slipped and wedged the bit over to one side and that sucker grabbed what was left and spun it halfway out. ![]() ![]() 68 chevy 1 Skokie 1 Here are the pics.
