Fan Clutch Question
After 17x,xxx miles on the Monte and a couple of thousand on the truck, my fan clutch finally gave up. I purchased a new fan clutch from NAPA yesterday and installed it. (It is hard to tell from the picture but the box actually said Made in USA - I didn't know the USA still made anything).
Anyways my question is do I need to do something other than the lock washers because of the slots where it mounts to the water pump? The GM one had holes. The lock washers looked better on that one. On the new one it just doesn't look right. Is anybody running one of these slotted clutches? Does it stay on there ok? I will admit it was a heck of a lot easier getting it on there. I started one bolt and slid the pump on. It sure beats fiddling around with attempting to alight the hole in the clutch, the pulley, and the threads in the water pump.
