6cyl.3spd to 8cyl.4spd swap

I finally rounded up a v8 and for speed for my truck. Everything Ive read led me to beleive that the saginaw 4 speeds were a direct replacement for the 3 speeds. When I pulled my engine and trans last week, i was shocked to see a 3 speed trans that was apx 6in shorter than the 4 speed I bought.

I wanted to keep the driveshaft the same to save money. I didnt want to move the trans mount either. I am not sure what to do now. Worst case senerio is getting the drive shaft shortened and moving the trans mount back. Has anyone else ran into this situation? Is there an easier way to do this?
