Best way to clean aluminum?

Hey guys!

What is the best way to go about cleaning up aluminum parts? Such as serpentine belt accessory bracketry, intakes etc?

I don't mind the textured look, but I would like to apply some sort of temperature resistant clear coat of some sort to keep it from corroding, and make it easier to hose off any grime that may appear later on down the road...

Any suggestions?
