1-ton vs. 3/4-ton suspension interchangeability
I'm using an '82 Chevy Silverado CrewCab 1-ton dually chassis with camper package for a custom project (in the link below). I don't believe I'll be needing the added weight capability of the 1-ton, so I was wondering if I could swap in springs from a 3/4-ton for a better ride. Do the 3/4-ton and 1/2-ton springs have the same dimensions as the 1-ton springs?
How about the front springs? The Chevy came with a 6.2L diesel, so the front springs should be heavy-duty to support the weight of all the accessories and extra battery, but I'm thinking they'll be too stiff for my project, so will springs from a smaller truck swap in? Thanks for any input! Keith
