belt molding area

I was taking my vent windows off this afternoon to get ready for (finally!) new weatherstripping, when I realized this:





There is a bit of a bend on the outer-side of the door along the window channel- where the belt moildings clip in. It's bent in a kink right at the indention for the vent window divider bar, making a 5mm or so gap between the bar and the door skin. Is this normal? Both of my doors look like this, but that really doesn't say much, compared to the rest of the truck's previous condition. Does the outer molding cover this gap up?
