Rear brakes

'81 Silverado 1/2 ton 2 w/d.....The rear resevoir on my master went dry due to leaky wheel cyl. Cleaned everything up, replaced the parts, now can't get the rear lines to bleed out air. At least the fluid is not lowering after about 4 or 5 attempts. Am I not giving it enough time, or do I have to bench bleed the master cyl? Thanks..........
