Yet another "new" guy

Okay, so I have been lurking on the board for quite a while, posted some questions and answers so I don't feel I am a real "newbie".

I figured I should post something about my project. No pictures yet but that should change in the next week or so. I picked up a '64 longbed, fleetside from a friend, who was the original owner. Traded some work for the truck. He had done some "custom" work back in the late 60's and early 70's and let me tell you, it screems 70's. LOL He did built the original 283 to a 301 which last time we drove it (about 8 years ago) it screemed. He would run up to 7000 rpm's! He put a T-10 4 speed in it as well. The front coils were cut big time but had left the rears stock for that 70's stink bug look. He had it rewired with a Ron Francis harness and this thing must be an antique from the early years.

Well fast forward to 2006 when he gave it to me for some custom work on his S10 Blazer. I have toying back and forth whether I had the time and interest to get deep into a project like this again. I was close to putting it up for sale but just couldn't do it. Well, this week I made a choice that has pushed me to keep it. I found on Craigslist a guy parting out a '74 C10. I picked up the whole front suspension/crossmember, rear axle, PS and PB setup and a set of aluminum wheels with tires. Basically everything I need to convert over to discs and 5 lug setup.

I also have had in wait, a Chevy 350 and TH-350 tranny which I was planning to swap in. I think I am going to do air bags all around but keep the total drop mild, no frame scraping stance. I have had my paint idea for a while, satin black with flames, interior, engine bay and inner bed area Chevy orange.

Figured I would post up my project plans and will get some pictures up when I get it moved from the side yard. I am finally getting excited to work on it so stay tuned for more details and pictures.

Thanks!
