Help with 67-68 GMC front Grille/Hood
I'm having very rough time getting my front clip to line up on my 68 GMC. Most of the problem is where the bottom of the hood meets the grille top bar and then where that top bar meets the grill. I have attached some pics to try to portray what the issue is, but I'll try to explain it too. The orange line I drew is a great exaggeration of what the problem is.
I have tried two hoods, and have had the same issue. It appears that the bottom lip of the hood (where it meets that bar) is curved upwards on each side of the center. At each corner of the hood, everything is good, but as you work your way in from each corner towards the center of the hood, they each curve up and then come back down in the center, so I have gaps between the hood and the grille bar. Is the bottom of the hood supposed to be flat all the way across? I would think so, but what are the chances of having two hoods with this same issue? What are my options? Try to bend the hood to be straight there? Weld metal to the hood to make a straight bottom? Try yet another hood?
