4X4 from 2WD any suggestions? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just recently found this site and love reading all the posts so decided I might ask a question myself. I have a 77 SBSS GMC and a 79 3/4 ton Chevy I will be putting them together to make one good vehicle. Neither of these are 4X4s and I am considering making the short box into one. I have a 454 with a blower possibly putting out between 500 -550 HP. Does anyone have any recommendations for transfer case, transmission, and axles? How difficult will it be to switch it over? And what about newer systems or even AWD?
