pulling power question

Does a 1 ton dually have anymore pulling power than a 3/4 ton or does it all depend on the engine? Would a 350/350 auto with a 3/4 or 1 ton rearend do just as well? I am wanting a truck that I can use to pull a car trailer with car, a two dolly with another car and a full load of stuff (I am moving) halfway across country and over the Appalacians without any problems. Any suggestions? I don't think my heavy half ton is up to the task, but could I be wrong?
