Fuel Gauge

Last year was always having trouble with the fuel gauge pegging all the way past full. This year I changed tank and fuel sending unit and it worked better but still not right well now it,s pegging all the way again. It will eventually register.Seems almost like it only does this when the weather is cooler.Have checked ground and power wire they seem ok.Wondering where to start.Going to put it away soon for the winter so it's not a huge deal right now just one of them things that get under your skin.Anybody have any ideas?
