The lock cylinder is just there so someone cannot function the ignition switch without a key. You could check by assuring you have 12v to the ignition switch.
Do you get any signs of 'life' by turning on the key, warning lights, fuel pumps running, anything at all? Ignition problems can be a PITA, but I'm sure it's something simple that is being overlooked. Jeff
