Help with welding rods
I just picked up welding recently, and have a 30-230 amp stick welder. I have been using 6011 rods because of their ease of use and have gotten pretty darn good with them. I made a big BBQ grill, a 5-ton shop press, an air hose reel, and a custom exhaust for a lawnmore engine generator project, and learned that 230 amps is like a mini-plazma cutter(awesome!). Here is my question. I'm going to be doing a disc brake swap on the rear of my truck, and want a rod that will leave a much cleaner weld. Too much slag and spatter with the 6011, not to mention an arc that severly wanders and binds very easily. I want some good clean welds that dont require a lot of grinding. Any ideas?
