New guy

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while, figured I'd join since my truck is going to be coming together soon. My name is Chris, I worked 4 years as a GM tech before moving to Parts last year, a lot easier work that's for sure. I've been car/pickup obsessed for as long as I can remember, and we actually have 4 67-72 GM trucks with my dad's dad having another. Too bad his is also the only one currently running. Now enough about me, I know what you really want to hear about.

I have a '69 Chevy C/10 longbed. A little over 3 years ago I built a 383 for it, well that lasted 14 months before it ate the cam and lifters. Fast forward through 2 years of it sitting to now, I'll be assembling the engine this coming weekend and hopefully dropping it in.

All within the month prior to the engine going out I had done a pretty good amount of work to it:
Repainted the interior, covered the visors and dash pad in leather.
Had a color matched bedliner sprayed in.
Swiped some old chrome Cragar SST wheels off my dad's dormant '72 K/10 and wrapped them with 295 Gran Prix GTs (I think that's what they're called).
Installed CPP's sway bar, 2"-4" spring and shock kit.
Needless to say it was quite disheartening when it had issues.

A little history on the truck- My grandpa (mom's dad) bought it in the late 90's from a farmer. He swapped a 350/350 out of a mid '70's Nova in it and used it around his acreage and for trips to town until he passed away at the end of 02. It sat while my grandma tried to sell it, I ended up buying it from her in 04 (I think?). I drove it through most of college before it had engine trouble and I decided to go bigger starting with a '76 C/20 4 bolt 350.
When I got it it looked like this: (sorry for the quality, don't know what's up with that)

I've made numerous changes besides what's above. Now it looks like this minus the spare (cell phone pic but it's the only pic I have in it's current state)

I've got all sorts of plans for the C/10 once it gets back on the road (seats and carpet being #1) and look forward to lots of good info from the forum.

As for my user name, my dd is a 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged, it's a lot fun but no comparison to the joy of the '69.
