Gross Weight/VIN Tag Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Has anyone documented/drawn any conclusions regarding gross vehicle weights posted on the VIN/Gross Weight tags?

I suspect you could possibly rule out a truck being an original big-block truck by the gross weights listed on the tag. I suspect this simply because I compared the tags of two very similar trucks (both VIN's beginning with CCE142 and both CE10734 model #), one being a documented big-block truck and the other a documented small block truck. The As Manufactured weights are different because (I assume) the big-block truck always has heavy duty front and rear springs.

My research is very limited and I would like to know if someone has done more of this kind of research.
