lowering cheap

I am building a budget 1969 gmc long box with 6 cyl I bought a cheap set of 2/4 lowering springs and its ok I would like to go lower without spending alot is it possible to cut the lowering springs a bit to tuck it a bit lower this will not be a daily driver just a fun weekend truck or nice day truck any ideas would be great thanks
