sound deading

I was wondering what you guys think about an idea I have. I have a big piece of rubber appox. 1/8 too 3/16 thick it used to be a static mat in the shop where I work. I was thinking of attaching this to the back of the cab and inside the doors and maybe firewall. Do you think this would deaden the outside sounds and make the cab quieter inside? What type of glue would you use?
