How do I extract...

threaded items in aluminum manifolds? On one manifold I have a water neck stud that won' turn. And no, I didn't use anti-sieze because I was unacquainted with it 19 years ago.

The other I have a pipe plug that the PO aparently didn't use any teflon tape or pipe dope or anything else. It has some issues with the square hole. It's really more of an octagon now.

Will heat work or do I run the risk of warping the intakes? I really don't want to ruin the threads so please, only advice that's not counter productive. Jokes welcome though.
