PS Pump brackets?

So I pulled off the loud, leaky, broken power steering pump on small block in my Jimmy and went to install the generic part house replacement pump. Problem is the replacement pump has low-pressure-side pipe coming straight out the center of reservoir back so it rests on block/head and pump cannot be installed. The pump that was on there had the pipe coming out near very bottom of reservoir so no clearance issues. The existing pump&brackets had some crude DIY spacers between bracket and head, so not pretending that pump or bracket were original/correct for the motor. But now I have a dilemma: do I try to find a correct bracket and use the correct pump or try to find parts house version of the pump that was on there? If I did go for the original brackets, any ideas on who might have some? Any reason the universal small-block-chevy ps pump mounting bracket would not work?

thanks for suggestions
