I'm sure he has one of each, and probably has has several.
I've got one mounted on a pedestal, but a hand held unit can get into more places. One reason it's a dying art is it's so time consuming, and people are impatient and want it cheap and fast. Allot of people don't know what it takes to make it look that good. s/t
