A lot of old, and very little new
So, my speedo is about as accurate as well, one that isn't working. When I am going like 65, it says 40 or so. I have yet to check it. The odo doesn't work at all. I am going on a hunt an Elk hunt where I need to take the 74 and want some way to figure out mileage and speed bfore and after the trip. It dawned on my last night that I still have a trick GPS, one of the good nav ones made by Lowrance the company that makes all the Maratime Nav systems. It is a hand held but has a bunch of different screens so I set it up this morning to check it and it works perfect!
Put it in my BMW 535i and drove the 30 miles to work, actually, exactly 27.6 miles....from my front door, to the front door at work! The GS or ground speed indicator was great, and I find now my speedo in my old BMW is accurate as hell! At all speeds from 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70, when the needle was right in the middle of the number on the car, the GPS said that number withing .02 miles an hour. Now I will put an old school celly holder in the 74 and put this GPS in there and use it for a speedo and odo till I fix mine! Going to look funny to have a neat trick little GPS in an old ass beater truck! |
