1972 OEM bed for sale
I am selling the bed off of my LWB 72 Cheyenne Super. It is all original sheetmetal, never been disassembled, wrecked, or dented. The bed floor is near flawless, with the exception of a few holes drilled for the aux tanks, and mounting the camper shell (topper, not the cab-over type). It is as straight as they come. The inside is all original paint and the surface rust can be removed by hand with sandpaper. There is no pitting. The outside had 1 repaint in the early 90's by the PO and was made solid ochre (it was 2 tone ochre/white originally) and the upper/lower trim removed. I obtained an original set of GM upper/lower trim and reattached them using the factory trim holes and hardware. Luckily, they used filler in the holes instead of welding them so I was able to drill them back out with ease, and no damage to the paint or warping of the metal. The mouldings hug nice and tight to the bed, and the lowers are in excellent condition with the original woodgrain (a couple look NOS). The uppers need polishing and the black repainted in them. The tail light surrounds are original, and also fit nicely.
I installed a set of USA made chrome aux. fuel doors ($100) and will include a set of aux. tanks that I purchased from Randy (Teeitup) that are in great shape. I am also including the fuel tank floor switch from the truck, so you can plumb these right in. I am keeping the original tailgate from this bed....but I will include a 68 CST tailgate that was taken off in the 80's, and is in excellent condition as well, with all original paint. I am including pictures of it on my blue truck to show it is straight and clean. I am NOT selling either tailgate separately, and the blue one will only be sold in conjunction with the bed. $1000 with tailgate $700 without tailgate
