Your truck probably had a 700R4 and NP208C from the factory like my old 87 Suburban did. When the 700R4 died on your truck they swapped in the T-350 setup.

Why don't you just put in another T-350 or get that one rebuilt? They are pretty tough if built right and not very expensive.

No overdrive and full time 4x4 kill mileage a fair amount so that is my guess.
