concern on cupping LCA or trimming bag cup

I have seen several threads about cupping the LCA or trimming lower bag cups. My question is when this is done are there any rubbing issues with the bag? I was also informed by a friend that said this also affects the height that you will get? I understand that it will sit lower but how much of the height will be lost?
