Ok im a body man and pretty well clueless about what goes with what on building a motor so any help would be great. I have a 1970 c/10 with a stock 350 3 speed transmission (3 on the tree) 2 wheel drive. Its got a bad knock most likely a spun bearing so I gotta tear the motor apart so while its apart I wanna build... well what I call a cruise motor. Fun to drive grabs everyones attention and the sound of it pulling up to a show or on a cruise night sticks in your mind.
The only motor mods are headman hedders and an edelbrock 600 cfm performer series carburater (part # 1405). I want to put a Comp Cam Thumpr cam kit in this motor, the kit number is gk12-600-8. It comes with Hydraulic Roller Lifters and a Gear Drive Timing System. The cam is a 283THR7 = Duartion 283/303 Duration @.050 227/241 Valve Lift .513/.498 Lobe Lift .3420/.3320 Other than changing springs and installing a thrust button (whatever that is) what else is going to need to be changed I would like to keep the rest of the drive train stock as much as possible. Any opinion would be greatly appreciated this truck is my baby and i just want to build it right
