Disc brake question for straight axle - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I plan on staying old school, for a number of reasons.
One being price. that being said I would like as little drama as possible while driving my panel(when that day comes

)so good brakes are important.
I'll likely install a Ford 9" in the rear from a 69 F100 so I think its reasonable to install front disc set up that has the Ford bolt pattern. I already have the 9" as well as Ford pattern steelies.
I am wondering about adapting a Ford disc set up(wrecking yard?) on my 49 GMC straight axle.
Any thoughts ?
