I believe the ball joint tapers are different sized and the sockets in the lower control arms are usually different so by the time you make every thing fit you are better to start with the right parts
Although as an alternative, the '88-'98 1500 and light duty 2500 spindles, balljoints, rotors, calipers and such will fit the earlier C20 control arms. The 1500 rotors will give you 5x5 bolt pattern and the light duty 2500 will give you a 6x5.5 bolt pattern.
