'59 Apache 32- softening the ride?

Hey guys, im curious about my rear leaf spring situation. Doing my entire build on a budget so I don't want to order new leaf springs. My '59 is a 3/4 ton. Its getting a camaro subframe. Im going to flip the axle and c notch it. I was going to take the leaf pack apart, remove all of the overload springs, leave leafs 1,2 and 4 (from the top) and remove the 3rd and 5th springs. Does this sound like a pretty solid plan? I figured that most of the strength comes from the top two springs and it would be good to leave one of the others. I want to soften it up a little bit.

Is there a good donor vehicle that I could use the leafs from? I have no problem cutting factory perches and making new perches at different positions/widths etc. I guess any small truck leafs would probably be able to be made to work(dakota, s10, ranger, etc.).
