FNG from Greenville, SC
Hey ya'll,
Just wanted to say whats up. I've been lurking for a while now, mainly on the 73-87 section. A little bit about me, I'm 26 years old, I'm a draftsman for a living, and I'm (like most of us) a certified gearhead. Another hobby of mine is breeding corn snakes. Anyhow, here's the list of vehicles I've owned/wrenched on since high school, in order: '88 Ford Ranger, 4cyl, 4wd, 5speed. For what it was, cant complain for a first ride. '67 C10, short wide, big window. 3/4 drop, baby blue/white. I still miss this one. '00 Toyota Tacoma '95 Impala SS, DCM... next to my '67, my favorite ride so far. Love the B-bodies. '95 Nissan hardbody, 4cyl, 4wd, 5speed. Definitely a step backwards, but sold the Impala to buy a house. '04 Silverado, 4.8, 2wd, reg cab short bed... my current daily driver '06 xB, 5speed... the wife's car, and we both love it. Awesome little ride. And, then there's this thing: My Dad's on again/off again girlfriend (since I was 4) gave me this last week. Her dad bought it new in '83, and it has 97k miles on it. Thats around 3700 miles a year average. He died 14 years ago, and since then, it has only been driven to the dump twice a month. It's weirdly optioned with the Silverado package, with full power windows and locks, but it also has no AC... go figure. Not a big deal, because one of my favorite parts of the '67 was cruising with the windows down and my elbow propped up on the door. The sun has MURDERED the interior, but thats ok, since Im converting it to black anyway. It's a 305 truck, but I'll be building a 383 stroker for it. Plans are a 3/4 or a 4/6 drop with helper bags, a stock looking paint job, and keeping the rally wheels. I plan on selling the Silverado and using what I was paying on that truck, to fix this one up. I'll buy a paid off DD car to drive to work and back. Thanks for sticking through the longwinded post, here's a few pics of the current rides also. |
