washed my truck....have questions

So yesterday I hand washed my truck for the first time. While doing this I saw a lot of water "peeing" from the bottom of the door (where the drain holes are). I also remember my 72 haveing water slosh around in it cause the drain holes were plugged.

So am I correct that the doors just get water in them....that's the way it is? I have brothers one piece windows and I don't think they seal from the outside as good as factory.

Second, I have sound damper (second skin) stuck to the inside of the outer door skin. If/when this gets wet, is it going to trap water and cause rust?
