yes you can use the 5.3 compressor, it IS NOT a variable compressor....ive done this many times, also VA will tell you that IT IS covered with their warrienty, ive talked with them a few time about this subject, and they WILL stand behind their warrienty...all the kits ive ordered were directly through VA, and included the magnum 4, a direct fit condencer with dryer, either a bi-nary or tri-nary sw., vent styles of my choice, and a universal line/fiting kit...basically everything needed minus the compressor (cause i was useing the stock 5.3 one) shipped was about 1200$ IIRC
