I screwed some stuff up.. BADD

so yesterday morning i was driving my truck and i got on it. got up to about 95-100 and i felt the biggest clunk and thrashingly wicked noise.. first i thought i blew the motor up.. got out and looked and my rear u-joint was snapped, and my tranny was leaking fluid real bad. well when i got it up in the air, i noticed the bellhousing broke all the way around the tranny and it came apart.. i replaced it with a rebuilt turbo 350 with a shift kit and new mounts and torque converter the hole 9 yards.. and i have the new tranny in now and i love it but what would cause this to happen..? did the torque converter blow apart and make things go bad or did the case brake first or was it all the u joint? ill get some pics of my two halves of a tranny soon lol
