Unhappy Almost New From So Cal

Hey all,

I say almost new because I have been lurking with an occasional post here and there for about 6 months maybe? I have found so much useful info here, the people seem great (good humor as well as knowledge!), and I've even been able to contribute some of my limited knowledge now and then (mostly from taking 2 weeks do to something that should only take an afternoon or so!!)

So I figured it was about time for a "Proper Introduction":

Here's the skinney on my rig (aka......The Flame)

Original Owner (oo?) was the Chevy dealership in my hometown. They used it for running parts up and down the valley. Put a lot of miles on her (about 180k or so) but treated and serviced her well. 2nd owner was a truck driver who didn't drive it much but was someone who new how to keep a vehicle serviced. My folks then bought her to have a truck to do and haul things with around the house. That was my junior year of high school. When I graduated, they gave me the pink. Mid 40's now, so ive had her quite a while.

This truck has never been overhauled in any way! As you can see on the outside she is no longer original (lower trim gone, rear bumper modified) but everything else including motor, drive train, etc, is all OE.

On the interior, the seat is not OE. Left her on a dirt backroad for a few days while backpacking....some bums stole the beautiful OE bench seat!! Had to drive 8+ hours home on a backpack and sleeping bag!! And the radio is not OE...although I was smart enough to hang on to it!

Oh, and I had the slider put in back when to help with ventilation (No a/c)
Some dumb things a kid does when he doesn't know any better:

got rid of original black and yellow CA plates (had to have cool new ones!)
cut steel fuel line to carb when fuel pump replaced...hose was easier I guess
(water pump not OE either )
Put slider in ....have to admit I kinda like it though.
Painted headlight bezels and wiper arms.

I'm sure there are more, but......

Any way here she is.

Sadly, the badly needed the overhaul is not in the picture right now. She was running up until a few weeks ago. I think some debris made it into the carb and is flooding out. So that is the first order of business. She needs a heater core, new belts and hoses, and stuff like that, but at nearly 250K miles, at some point shes gonna demand more!
