just to add more info on "Hi Hump" vs" Low Hump' trans covers
I swapped a 454 into my 69 a couple of years ago. The ruck was orginal with a 350/turbo 400 and a factory low hump trans cover. I think I know why the factory put a hi hump with big block/400 applications. I have spent two days trying to replace the oil pan gasket on my truck. I finally slid the trans back about 5 inches and jacked the motor uo about 5 inches to gain clearence to unbolt the oil pump and remove the 7 qt. pan. It may have been possible to just remove the hi hump(if I had one) and raise the rans high enough to get the pan off. I think sometimes you just can't beat the engineering of GM.
