Leaky 8274 Winch
Had this winch a while. Noticed not long after I got it, that it leaked a little around where the drum goes into the gear box. So ordered a seal repair kit. Basically just an o-ring that keep the oil from leaking out. I was careful not to twist or roll this oring when putting it all back together. Anyway, it leaks more now than it did. But when had it apart, we did drill & tap for a little plug in the front of the gear box, so I just add a little oil when I know I'll be using it.
All to say, question is why not just put some good grease (like pack bearings with) in it for the gears instead of fooling with this leaky oil. Seems that is all the newer style winches have anyway
