I should be arrested for truck abuse.

Did a few dumb things today, I'm still a complete idiot when it comes to vehicles, maybe you guys can help me troubleshoot my trip from today.

1. Tranny had no fluid apparently, started shifting up and down between 4th and 3rd goin uphill, when I pulled off the highway it wouldn't shift outta first, then after 2 quarts of tranny fluid it felt better. go figure.

2. Since I hadn't driven it very long before, I didn't realize just how rusty my gas tank is. My clear fuel filter was %100 rusty red and wasn't letting enough fuel through to the carb.

3. Because I it wasn't getting enough fuel, I had to floor the pedal almost to get enough gas, which confused my 700r4 tv cable controlled transmission. Carb linkage was saying SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT, but the engine was starved.

4. Something happened because of all of that that made my engine start leaking oil. It would leave a good ounce or two of motor oil under the bell housing on the tranny after everytime I shut off the engine, but won't drip while driving around. Rear main leak? oil pan leak?

So how bad might my transmission be messed up? It seems to shift ok now, but without a working speedo I can only guess shift speeds.

Do I need to pull my carb and clean it out? Or can I get by with buying a new tank so it doesn't feed it rust anymore?

I knew the carb was feeling bad so I replaced the fuel filter and it drove better for about 10 minutes, shifted fine, idled great and all. Then the choking, weird shifting, and turbulent idle started up again after it clogged up again I'm guessing.

Before you guys get on me about driving it around with all those problems, I was in Mexico, I couldn't very well get towed home. I got there fine, then I realized I had problems and was in a different country.
