Starter Removal 1969 GMC

I have a 1969 GMC I use for plowing. I'm pretty sure the starter is dead.. it clicks and extends the drive gear into the flywheel, but won't turn it over. Funny thing is, it doesn't retract the gear.. only when I move the flywheel by hand a little bit does the drive gear go back into the housing.

Anyway, as far as I can tell, there are two bolts and a stud with a nut on top. The nut is missing and I've got the two bolts removed, but its hung up on something. I can't clearly see the top of the starter to tell.

This is not the original 350, but I believe its either a 350 or 305 from an 80's Camero. So, it may be a little different, but I've given up for the day. Tired of laying in the snow.. figured I'd post here and see anyone had any ideas.
