Thoughts on ignition
So last night I was talking with my dad about the various "fancy" carbs on the market and the conversation drifted to ignition systems. He's under the opinion that a street car doesn't need an ignition box, just a nice electronic distributor with a vacuum advance and you are good to go.
I was planning on getting a CD ignition box to go along with a new distributor and coil, but the more I think about that conversation the more I think he might be right. My engine certainly isn't stock (383 with AFR heads), but except for a couple runs down the strip for fun it will be a street truck. So, anyone else think there is no other real benefit to separate ignition box on a street engine?
