My 77 build
well the truck is a 77 SWB chevy. My dad had a 77 like it and once he took it off the road I drove it in the yard when I was real young. After that I always wanted one. So I got my 77 and started to fix it up some. Its took a long time but its starting to get to where I want it. When I got the truck It already had a 3 inch body lift, the front end was broke, no motor, or trans. The frame was also broke by the rear spring hanger. And as you can see it need some TLC. So I took the drivetrain out of my dads 77 and put it in mine. Ill post pictures of how it started to where it is now.
When I first got it. Attachment 719366 Attachment 719367 As I was changing the drivetrain from my dads to mine. Attachment 719373 After I got it running and driving I drove it threw highschool even with the 2# on both doors and in primer. Then not to long after I had to change the primer look. Well I found another bed in better shape that was black. So why not just paint the rest black so I just rattle canned the cab and fenders. Attachment 719378 I put a set of 35s on 15x10 wagon wheels. I drove it like that a few years and my senior year thats when I really started to work on it. I bought a 6 inch lift to give me 9 inches all together. Attachment 719381 Attachment 719379 Attachment 719380 Few months go by and I find a set of 40s with 15x 10 pacers. Attachment 719387 Attachment 719388 Attachment 719389 Attachment 719390 One I got the tires on I found out quick the stock gears hate the tires. So I find a set with 4.56 gears with lockers front and rear. I then rebuilt the 350 that was in it. Attachment 719394 Next thing I know the frame is cracking nehind the steering box. I welded a plate on the inside and held for about 4 years. Since I didnt feel safe driving it like that so I didnt drive it much for a few years. Now I finally got my hands on another frame which came from a 85. I cleaned the frame up painted it gloss black with new brake lines, fuel lines, motor mounts, and body mount bushings. I aslo welded in the Smity Built frame support for the steering box. Attachment 719404 Attachment 719405 Attachment 719406 Attachment 719413 Than I started installing the lift and axles on the new frame. Attachment 719415 Attachment 719416 Then I cleaned the bottom of the cab and bed and painted it gloss black. The I sat them on the frame this time with no body lift. And I decided I wanted to paint it with actual paint and not the rattle can. So I decided I wanted it gray. So I sanded it all down, primered it, and painted. Since im not a painter I figured this will be good enough for now and it didnt turn out to bad being my first time painting a truck. Attachment 719427 Attachment 719428 Attachment 719429 Attachment 719430 Thats as far as I have gotten on the truck so far. I still need to line the fenders up and put the hood on. Im still on the fence about putting the body lift and 40s back on it. But I thought I would post up the build and hopfully finish this thing up soon so I can drive it again.
